NATANAEL CANO

Natanael Cano is a 20-year-old Mexican singer and songwriter who started his music career back in 2019. In this new generation of Latin artists, he is one of the few artists leading a unique style known as corridos tumbados, also known as trap corridos. 

 

Mexican Corrido music is a form of a musical folk ballad. It's a narrative to describe romance, stories, or events that are similar to ranchera music. Corridos are unique as the lyrics usually sung in a third-person perspective, like a narrator telling a story. These days, modern corridos are in the first person. And a unique style is the vocalist well sing in a glissando, a common trait in traditional and regional Mexican singing. A slow playing guitar also accompanies old corrido music.

 

Natanael Cano raps in a glissando voice with a Spanish guitar and American hip-hop style of beats. His music is unique compare to the Latin artists who use pure American beats of reggaeton beats. Cano'sCano's music radiates the fusion of old Mexican corrido with newer and in trend American rap. His music is unique and gaining attention as one of his songs, corridos tumbados, peak #166 on the US Billboard 200 Charts. 

 

Natanael Cano is a young Mexican artist bringing the unique genre into the masses. I think Cano will greatly influence more young Latinos to listen to this interesting fusion of styles.
